Many of our corporate clients prefer us to set up a mobile studio at their office, so employees don’t need to travel and can quickly return to work after their session. We can transform a conference room or open space into a mini studio with professional backdrops and lighting. If you’d rather do the shoot off-site, we can arrange a session at one of our partner studios in your area or even outdoors for a more relaxed vibe. Essentially, we shoot wherever is most convenient for you – be it your office, our studio, or any location of your choice. Our nationwide network means we likely have a professional near you ready to go.

The terms “headshot” and “portrait” are often used interchangeably, but there can be a subtle difference. A headshot typically refers to a photo that focuses on a person’s face (usually head and shoulders), intended for professional use like resumes, profile pictures, or casting photos. It’s usually against a simple background and meant to highlight your appearance and expression. A business portrait might be a bit less formal or could include more of your body (waist-up or full-body) and environment – for instance, a photo of you at your workspace or a lifestyle shot that tells a story about you. Business portraits are often used in magazines, branding materials, or on company “About Us” pages to give context to the person’s role or personality. In practice, though, many people just say “headshot” for all of the above. When you book with us, we clarify what style you’re looking for and can shoot a mix of tighter headshots and wider portraits so you get the best of both worlds.

Yes, basic retouching is included with all of our headshot packages. After the shoot, our editing team will go through the selected images and do light retouching to polish the final photo. This typically includes removing minor blemishes or pimples, reducing the appearance of stray hairs or shine, and adjusting color and contrast for a flattering result. We aim for a natural look – you will still look like you (we won’t drastically alter your face or features), but it’ll be you on a really good day! If you have specific retouching requests (like softening wrinkles or fixing a flyaway hair), just let us know. We want you to be completely happy with your headshot, and that means looking your best.

The general rule is to wear something that makes you feel confident and is appropriate for your profession or the image you want to convey. Here are a few tips:

• Keep it simple and comfortable: Solid colors work well (blues, grays, earthy tones, etc.), as busy patterns or logos can be distracting. Avoid extremely bright neon colors.
  
  
• Dress like you would for work (or the job you want): If you’re in a formal industry, a suit or blazer could be ideal. If your field is more casual or creative, a well-fitted collared shirt or blouse might suffice.
  
  
• Necklines and fit: Make sure the clothing fits you well and the neckline is appropriate. Generally, it’s good if the top has a collar or structure (for men, dress shirts or jackets; for women, blouses or blazers work nicely). This frames your face.
  
  
• Accessories: Keep jewelry minimal and subtle, if any. The focus should remain on your face.
  
  

Spare outfit: It’s not a bad idea to have a second outfit option on hand. You might take some shots in each to see which looks better on camera.
Ultimately, wear something you feel comfortable and confident in. We can also advise you during the concept phase on wardrobe if you’re unsure.

We can, though we usually strive to capture the right background during the shoot itself. If you have a specific background color or style you need (for example, pure white, blurred office environment, outdoor scenery, etc.), let us know ahead of time and we’ll shoot accordingly. We often bring various backdrops (white, gray, black, etc.) to sessions, and we can also shoot with a green screen if we know you’ll want to swap in a digital background later. Minor changes (like smoothing out a backdrop or extending it) are included in our editing. If you later decide you want a different background entirely, our editors can do that in Photoshop as an additional service. The bottom line: yes, it’s possible to change backgrounds in post-production, but planning the backdrop in advance usually gives the best and most natural-looking results.

Headshot sessions are usually pretty efficient, but the exact time can depend on how many people are being photographed and whether you want multiple looks. For a single individual, a standard headshot session might take around 30 minutes to an hour. This gives time for a few outfit changes and plenty of shots to choose from. If it’s just one quick shot with one outfit, sometimes we’re done in 15-20 minutes – but we never rush, and we like to take a variety so you have options. For multiple people (team headshots), we typically schedule about 10-15 minutes per person when doing back-to-back sessions, plus setup time. So, for example, if we’re shooting 10 employees, we might be on-site for around 3 hours. We’ll discuss timing when you book so that we schedule enough time to do things right. Also, if you’re on a tight schedule (say you only have a small window in your day), we can adjust the session length to fit your needs – just let us know in advance. Our team is used to working efficiently without compromising quality.
